I am writing this blog at 10:50 pm. I definitely should be heading for bed since we have our first event of 2015 this weekend - Scotiabank Skates - but I'm feeling inspired and I know too, that my business partner is working away putting the final touches on the volunteer schedule for the event.
This is the time we switch from planning to executing. The time when all our plans have come together and it is about confirmations - dotting the "I's "crossing the "t's" as they say.
We pride ourselves on not leaving details to the last minute to give the week before an event a chance to build excitement not stress. Once again I can say I'm excited about the weekend ahead!
Here is a snap shot of what our week will look like before an event.
- daily check ins with our client
- final event detail reminders to participants and volunteers
- one last confirmation with all suppliers
- printing - lots of list printing
And finally my least favourite thing - errands - picking up all the supplies we can't get until the very end. In this case for our hockey / skating event it is bananas, water, snacks, etc. for the participants. I am ever grateful for a partner who loves errands and a husband who loves Costco!
In the week before an event it is also important for us to do some self-care. We focus on eating healthy, mix in a workout at some point, some device free time, some family time (‘cause we will be missing them over the weekend) and probably the best thing we can do for ourselves is get enough sleep!
We welcome you to come out to the event on Saturday January 17th 2-4pm at The Hershey Centre for the free skate sponsored by Tim Hortons.
If you do, stop by and say "hi"!
