We always find the week after an event is the hardest, as the adrenaline and excitement have passed and now it is all feedback and wrap up.
The long days and short nights catch up to us and our bodies are tired from more exercise in one weekend than we typically do in a month. Our beds look like the only place we want to be but there is still a lot of work to do – like what to do with the mountain of event supplies that now reside in our living rooms!
After many years of experience with the post event blahs – we now take steps prior to the event to prepare.
We set a debrief call with clients the day after an event to ensure our recollections of the event are fresh and give our clients an opportunity to provide feedback and ideas - focusing on the positive and areas for improvement.
We also ensure prior to the event we have an up-to-date budget that allows us to add in monies raised during the event and provide our clients a fast turn-around for their final fundraising numbers. We can take this exciting number and add it into the thank you letters / emails we have drafted for participants, volunteers and donors - all to be sent the day or two after the event with some great photos.
Post event may not be as exciting as the plans leading up to the event or the event itself but proper thank you’s, feedback and the overall report are vital to the success of an event.
And once the thank you’s are sent and the wrap up is complete the week after the event we like to save some time for a spa treatment or two – a time for us to relax and refresh!
Congrats to Scotiabank Skates for their record-breaking success!
