Our Forté turns Three!

September 6, 2016

Here is what we are doing to move our business forward….

The summer has come to a close and what a time is has been for us to spend with family, friends and relaxing. It was a time for reflecting, refocusing and recharging – and this is exactly what we did!

We kicked off the summer with the 12th annual Healing Cycle ride on June 26th. The event was a huge success and over 200 riders and volunteers, enjoyed a beautiful weekend while raising money for hospice palliative care in Ontario.

With fundraising events slowing down during the summer, we had some time to work “on” our business instead of “in” our business. Here are the top three things we focused our time on:

Business planning – reflecting on the past year and setting the stage for the year ahead. This is what drives our business and helps us be accountable to each other. When our spring events are done, we always have a business planning day where we set our business and personal goals and objectives, reflect on our successes/challenges and then pamper ourselves with lunch and a trip to the spa. This much needed day, gives us clarity on the tasks ahead and a time to celebrate all that we have accomplished!

Stewarding our partners & clients – we have said it before and will say it again - stewardship is one of the most important tasks in our business. The summer is a great time to reconnect and thank the people and clients who we’ve worked with and continue to work with. This year we have implemented new client thank you gifts and we are very excited to send out these customized pieces after each event.

Fall events – fall and spring are peak fundraising event times and with three events coming up in this fall, we continued client meetings, phone calls and doing event planning tasks throughout the summer. These clients remained our priority and consistent updates with them kept us all in the loop during the summer months.

For us, the summer was filled with family time, celebrating our business anniversary (we turned three), vacations at the cottage, bbq’s and swimming. It also gave us time to re-evaluate and work on building our business as we go forward into our fourth year.

We made the most of our summer and we hope you enjoyed your summer too!

Ps – Happy Birthday to us…. We like all sorts of wine and liquor if you are so inclined – Cheers!
